1991 produced a wonderful vintage Port from the famous port house of Dow & Co. This vintage was particularly firm when young, even for Dow, with a rigid structure, moderate tannins and a wonderfully concentrated colour although it has matured wonderfully. On the nose there is rich toffee and caramel with hints of almond which have evolved from the earlier identified black fruits, licorice and chocolate. The palate is perfectly balanced, medium-bodied and muscular with clear caramel and chocolate notes. Drinking very well now this port will hold strong into the late 2030s.
