A Champagne House is eventually judged on the quality of its Brut Non Vintage. It is in the making of such a wine that the true Art of Champagne blending reveals itself. This is an art in which the House of Champagne Veuve Clicquot excels. Founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot-Muiron, Veuve Clicquot played an important role in establishing champagne as a favored drink of nobility throughout Europe. The Champagne is named after Madame Clicquot, (Widow Clicquot or Veuve Clicquot), known as the "Grand Dame of Champagne", was the French businesswoman who took on her husband's wine business when widowed at 27. The predominance of Pinot Noir provides the structure that is so typically Clicquot, while a touch of Pinot Meunier rounds out the blend. Chardonnay adds the elegance and finesse essential in a perfectly balanced wine.
The Veuve Clicquot Brut Yellow Label NV is well-knit and balanced, with racy acidity framing hints of blackberry, white cherry, biscuit, honey and candied lemon zest. A gorgeous streak of minerality complemented by a lightly smoky but long creamy finish ensure that this great classic lives up to it's name, perfect for an aperitif or through the evening.
The Champagne Veuve Clicquot is perfectly paired with white fish & white meat, and it's crisp acidity goes wonderfully with Tuna tartar and meaty scallops alike
