The estate's 2007 Syrah explodes from the glass with cracked black pepper, cured meats, blueberry jam and sweet spices. This is a remarkably muscular, full-throttle Syrah that offers exceptional balance and tons of complexity. Mineral-infused black fruit, graphite and crushed rocks are some of the nuances that inform the long, refreshing finish. In 2007, the Syrah is Tua Rita's flagship wine. This is a big, brooding, brambly Syrah that explodes from the glass in a pyrotechnic explosion of crushed brambly fruit, roasted meat, rain-spattered flowers, fresh-cut herbs, cracked black pepper, licorice and spice. While the ’07 Syrah is powerfully aromatic, its palate is surprisingly restrained, wrapping its pure fruit around a core of minerals, and filling out the experience with a plethora of fine-grained tannins. Fermented in stainless steel, this mono-varietal Syrah ages in two different sets of 100% new oak barriques, each for one year, before bottling.
