Matured in oak barriques for 28 months of which 55% were new and mostly French. Totally opaque inky black colour with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Alluring aromas of ripe blackcurrant are intermixed with dark chocolate and liquorice followed by vanillin cedar, a hint of earth and spice. Rich and powerful the palate is awash with ripe blackcurrant and dark chocolate flavours underpinned by liquorice, vanillin cedar, earth and spice nuances. Full bodied and densely textured the enormous density of fruit is ably supported by a robust firmly built tannin structure. Dryish finish with a long aftertaste of ripe blackcurrants, dark chocolate, earthy vanillin cedar and spice.
