When the third Grand Cru Classé of the Appellation Margaux was taken over in the early 1990s, Claire Villars retained the family oenologist, Jacques Boissenot. Very quickly, with the vintages of 1993, 1994 and 1995, Ferrière is noted for its quality with dense wines, not always flattering in their early youth, but evolving well in bottles . The concentrations increase, the malolactic fermentations begin to be done in new barrels which are renewed for more than half. At the turn of the century, the vintages confirm the renewal and attest to this rise in quality. The superb 1998 and 1999 combine power and finesse. After a beautiful 2001 very firm on its tannins, 2003 was more flexible and tender, and the attractive 2008 is very promising with a round and silky texture .
